Richard Johnson
Richard is a Partner, with over 20 years’ experience in Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution.
Richard joined Edward Hughes in 2000, completing his Training Contract, qualifying in 2002, and becoming an Equity Partner in 2004, and now head of the Civil Department.
Richard is thorough and pragmatic, offering a tailored service to the businesses and individuals he advises. Many clients have a long-term working relationship, with him.
Richard has a particular interest in, and has developed a specialism, in dealing with Landlord & Tenant matters. He acts for the clients of a number of local letting agents, and landlord clients direct.
Richard’s area of practice involves acting for business and individuals in:
- TOLATA claims
- Probate, Inheritance Act and disputes regarding Wills or Estates
- Commercial and Residential Landlord and Tenant disputes
- Commercial Litigation/
- Breach of contract claims/ disputes
- Partnership disputes
- Land and property based disputes
- Employment matters – disputes, including guidance through disciplinary procedures and the drafting of documentation including Contracts of Employment
- Business advice and drafting commercial agreements/documentation
- Debt collection matters
Richard has extensive experience in adopting methods of Alternate Dispute Resolution. He regularly attends mediations and/ or round table meetings to assist in attempting to find a solution to a dispute, as efficiently and cost effectively as possible.
Outside of work, Richard lives on a smallholding and enjoys spending time with his family and various animals.
